Information Systems
Below is a list of services offered by the MSI Information Systems group. Some of the services are still in the planning stages. Click on the service to read a descriptiong and obtain additional information on its use. Unless otherwise noted, most services depend on having a MSI account
- Accounts (email, systems)
- An MSI account will provide you with email, access to various systems, and much, much, more.
- Mailing Lists
- MSI Mailing lists are available for sending out news, information, or just to communicate with your colleagues.
- Conference Rooms and A/V Equipment Checkout
- Equipment is for use in the conference rooms or on campus are available for checkout from the Helpdesk. 24 hour advance reservation is required. Follow the link above for more details.
- Software Licensing & Checkout
- The MSI Helpdesk will help cooordinate software purchases for MSI researchers, faculty and staff. Some software that is purchased through campus volume contracts will be available for checkout. The campus site for purchasing licences is the Software Depot
- Departmental Servers
- MSI Core websites are hosted on the departmental servers. Research groups should contact webmaster@msi.ucsb.edu if they are interested in having their sites hosted by MSI. Relational databases and file storages are also available for use. Backups are created for all departmental servers and available for use by research groups
- Wireless Network Access
- The conference rooms, auditorium, and balcony all have public wireless access
- Network Security

- Offsite Access using VPN
- This service is hosted by OIT (Office of Information Technology). Visit their site for more information
